I started drawing and painting as a child, and my passion is stronger than ever. although my style is sweet and whimsical, my work has strong overarching themes: community, tenderness, belonging, finding happiness in the mundane, uniting in spite of perceived differences. every piece I draw or paint has a strong communal narrative in its backdrop, be it a small sticker set for a local coffee shop or an illustration with educational purposes.
my academic background is actually in translation and interpreting. I have translated several children’s books, texts for art programs, museum brochures and wall text, audio guides, among many other things. I’ve also helped lots of people communicate in spite of not speaking the same language through interpreting—and what a fulfilling task it is! I still take on these kinds of projects occasionally.
nowadays, I work on illustration and art commissions for projects of all sorts: editorial, advertising, commercial, stationery (birthday cards are my specialty!), custom (I excel at pet portraits), and more. I am always open to trying new things and meeting new people, and, not to toot my own horn, but I’m lovely to work with! 😉
